Enrolling In Your Benefits

Enroll within 30 days of your date of hire or the date you become eligible for Bayer benefits by going to the Bayer Benefits Center website at benefits.bayer.us or by downloading the NetBenefits app. In addition to your healthcare coverage, be sure you also enroll in the Savings & Retirement Plan (S&RP).

Changing Coverage During the Year

Once you make your election, you will not be able to change your coverage until the next Annual Enrollment period, unless you have a qualified change in status (see details below).

Change in Status/Life Event Guidelines

If you have a qualified change in status or life event, you must contact the Bayer Benefits Center within 60 days of the event.

A "qualified change in status" may occur when one of the following happens:

  • Marriage, divorce or legal separation
  • Establishment or termination of a qualified domestic partnership
  • Death of a spouse, domestic partner or dependent child
  • Birth or adoption (or placement for adoption) of a child
  • Change in your, your spouse's or your domestic partner's work schedule, resulting in gain or loss of benefit coverage
  • Loss of dependent status or gain of dependent status
  • A zip code change which results in a move out of your HMO or PPO coverage area*
  • Loss of coverage under another group health plan
  • A significant change in cost (e.g., going from full-time to part-time employment*)

*If you have an address change or your employment status changes (e.g., you change from part-time to full-time), you must contact the Bayer Benefits Center within 30 days of the change.

Enrollment Confirmation Statements

Upon completion of enrollment through the Bayer Benefits Center website, you will receive an email confirmation. Please save a copy of your 2026 elections for your records.

A confirmation statement will be mailed to your home address only if you enroll by speaking with a representative, call and request a mailed statement, or do not make a new hire election and your coverage defaults.

ID Cards

Your health plan carrier will mail you a member identification card approximately 10 days following your enrollment. In the interim, you can print your confirmation and use it as your temporary ID.

Savings Account Contributions from a Prior Employer

Bayer does not monitor Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Savings Account (FSA) contributions from previous employers. When making your HSA or FSA elections, keep in mind what you have contributed into your account prior to joining Bayer and adjust your Bayer contribution to ensure you do not exceed any IRS contribution limits for the year.

401(k) Rollover Contributions

You may roll over a distribution from a former employer’s qualified 401(k) plan into the Bayer Savings and Retirement Plan (S&RP). You must make a rollover contribution to the Plan within 60 days of receiving a distribution. To make a rollover contribution, call the Bayer Benefits Center at 1-888-473,1001, Option 1 to request a rollover kit or visit the rollover page on the Bayer Benefits Center.

Learn more about Bayer’s S&RP contribution options and the company match on the Savings & Retirement Plan page.

Adding a Dependent to Coverage: Dependent Verification Required**

Bayer requires that any newly enrolled dependents in the Bayer medical, dental and/or vision health coverage meet the Dependent Verification guidelines by submitting proof to verify dependent eligibility. If you enroll a new dependent, as part of the dependent verification process:

  • You will receive a letter to your Bayer email and home address, from HMS/Gainwell with instructions and a due date for submitting the required documentation to verify your dependent(s).
  • It may be months between the time you have enrolled your dependent in coverage and when you receive instructions from HMS/Gainwell to complete the dependent verification process.
  • In addition, communications by HMS will primarily be via US mail, please ensure your home address is up to date in Bayer’s system.

Important: Failure to provide proof of dependent(s) eligibility by the due date provided in the dependent verification communications will result in loss of medical, dental and/or vision coverage for your dependent(s).
